OSU – Oklahoma City, located in the heart of Oklahoma City is looking for adjunct teachers for Adjunct –  EMS

 

 

Job Summary:


To serve as an instructor for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) degree program. Continuous assignment based on program need and funding availability.

 

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

1. Knowledge in EMS agency operations, management, and leadership functions. 

 

2. Ability to update curriculum to meet changing trends in the EMS field. 

 

3. Ability to present material in the traditional or online classroom environment. 

 

4. Ability to conduct formative and summative assessment of student learning. 

 

5. Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, displaying and requiring professionalism in all classroom activities. 

 

6. Ability to work collaboratively with EMS agency representatives on meeting program goals and learning outcomes. 

 

7. Can show a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.

 

8. Function under the direction of the EMS Program Director.

 

9. Prepare lab for classes, help dismantle and clean up after lab activities.

 

10. Function as a lab instructor during class labs.  

 

11. Demonstrates the safe and proper use of lab equipment and hazardous or bio hazardous materials. 

 

12. Provide leadership and positive role modeling for students.

 

13. Attend annual program meeting.

 

14. Participate in the assessment of student learning annual report.

 

15. Perform other duties as assigned.


 

 

Rate of Pay:  

$600.00 per credit hour/ $650 per lab credit hour

 

 


Requirements

 

Education:

 

Associate's degree

 

 

 

Work Experience:

 

Minimum of 3 years field experience with an EMS agency as a paramedic.

 

Current National Registry of EMTs certification as a Paramedic

 

Current Oklahoma Paramedic license

 

AHA BLS Provider 

 

AHA ACLS Provider 

 

AHA PALS/PEPP Provider 

 

Willing to work flexible hours to meet program goals and student educational/learning needs.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Previous teaching experience or field training.  

 

Experience in education technology, simulation technology, or related area.

 

Familiarity with Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic registry skill and practices.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Ability to educate and assist students with learning of the various skills necessary for EMS education. 

 

Ability to evaluate student performance.  

 

Ability to conduct formative and summative assessment of student learning.  

 

Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, displaying and requiring professionalism in all classroom activities. 

 

Ability to work collaboratively with EMS agency representatives on meeting program goals and learning outcomes. 

 

Can show a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.

 

Ability to adapt and apply laboratory methods, practices and techniques.

 

Ability to follow health and safety procedures and regulations.

 

Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.

 

Ability to adapt to curriculum and programmatic changes.

 

Ability to update and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, and other course materials.

 

Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree

 

AHA BLS Instructor

 

AHA ACLS Instructor

 

AHA PALS/PEPP Instructor

 

PHTLS Provider

 

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

Office and laboratory environment.  Position may required work during evening and/or weekend hours.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Instructor will perform duties inside structures or in laboratory simulations. Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting up to 75 lbs. unassisted, bending, standing, climbing or walking.  Any items weighting more than 45 lbs. must be team lifted per OSU safety regulations. Must be able to handle and safely dispose of solutions and any hazardous materials wearing appropriate PPE.
