OSU – Oklahoma City, located in the heart of Oklahoma City, is looking for a Assistant Director of Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning.

 

 

Job Summary:

 

The Assistant Director is responsible for workforce development initiatives (both programmatic and federal, state, and private grant-based) involving workforce development for the State of Oklahoma.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act’s (WIOA) emphasis on Apprenticeship and work-based learning (on the job training, internships, job shadowing, etc.) creates a renewed focus on ways to help workers advance and help industry build and sustain a talent pipeline. We’re looking for a professional who wants to make a difference – and believes that we can close the skills gap and help all workers thrive in the 21st century economy. 

The individual will work with a variety of state agency leadership, prominent business leaders, and local stakeholders to coordinate workforce development system efforts, including
working with businesses and state agency staff to develop and maintain Registered Apprenticeship and other work-based learning initiatives. The individual will lead with the development of business and education partnerships in alignment with federal and state programs. This individual will be the liaison between the U.S. Department of Labor representative and the state to assist in the expansion and diversification of work-based learning opportunities in Oklahoma. Also, the individual will develop project timelines and monitoring of deadlines.   The Assistant Director supports and provides internal business continuity as appropriate.

This position requires extensive verbal and written communication skills, a mastery of multi-tasking and prioritizing, the ability to plan and facilitate various meetings, a willingness to travel, an interest in relationship building, and a passion for helping create better opportunities for job seekers and improved economic success for Oklahoma. 

This is a two-year term, grant-funded position.


Essential Job Functions: 




1.Facilitate partners and engage business leaders.

2. Actively pursue leads on work based learning sponsors and participants

3.Work with local areas on identifying solutions to barriers

4.Works with businesses to provide technical assistance

5.Acts as a liaison between the businesses, the state, and federal entities

6.Accountable to key performance indicators and outcomes

7.Responsible for policy identification, monitoring, development and interpretation of federal and/or state law and regulations.

8.Develops and maintains quality processes for the writing of state policy and guidance for implementation in the local workforce development areas.

Requirements

Work Experience

Experience working with federal, state, or private grants. Three years experience and demonstrated proficiency and supervising staff. Experience coordinating programs, statewide initiatives, gaining stakeholder input and interest. Experience in Workforce Development or related field.

Certifications &/or Licenses

Preferred: Facilitator Certification, Project Management Certification, Registered Apprenticeship

 

Education

Registered Apprenticeship Certification, Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications.

Master’s Degree in communication, public policy, or a related field preferred.

Five year’s of experience working with federal, state, or private grants preferred.

Experience in implementing or participating in an Apprenticeship program preferred.

Working Conditions:

Normal office working environment; in-state travel required often, out-of-state travel for training and professional development also required on occasion.
