OSU – Oklahoma City, located in the heart of Oklahoma City, is looking for an Electrician.


Job Function

 

Works with minimal supervision and responsible for the installation, repair, alteration, maintenance and testing of a wide variety of electrical equipment and lighting and power systems, including the interior and exterior of all campus buildings.

 

Responsible for documentation of all work performed including maintenance operation reports, service requests and replacement needs.

 

This position in not limited to only the Physical Plant Maintenance Department but includes any assistance needed in the Construction Department or any other duties required in areas determined necessary by the Director of Building Maintenance. 

 

Essential Job Functions: 


1.         Installs, repairs, alters, maintains, and tests a wide variety of electrical equipment and lighting and power systems, including the interior and exterior of all campus buildings.

 

2.         Coordinates work assignments when working with other crew members to ensure maximum efficiency and productive completion of projects.  

 

3.         Regularly inspects and evaluates electrical and electronic equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently and safely.

 

4.         Follows recommended maintenance schedule for cleaning and lubricating equipment and maintains records on equipment status and maintenance.

 

5.         Studies blueprints and schematics to determine methods, materials and equipment needed to complete the assignment. Provides estimate of cost of materials and equipment to supervisor.

 

6.         Performs general labor duties as needed and in cooperation with other crew members.

 

7.         Performs other duties as assigned.

Rate of Pay : $15.29 hr

Requirements

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent GED. 

Experience:

5 years experience in building maintenance, motor repair, electronics, troubleshooting controls and electrical construction. Experience in commercial and industrial repair and installation. 

 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Must be a currently licensed electrical journeyman in the state ofOklahoma
    • Must have currentOklahomadriver’s license
    • Excellent skills and abilities in troubleshooting, locating and repairing defects in electrical equipment, lighting and power systems
    • Excellent abilities in installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, wiring diagrams and schematics
    • Ability to make mathematical computations, interpret and follow the National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code
    • Ability to estimate materials for electrical installations, remodeling and construction
    • Ability to follow various safety practices and procedures commonly used in this field to prevent accidents
    • Ability to follow safe work practices, procedures and policies
    • Ability to be versatile and flexible in accomplishing multiple daily maintenance tasks standing on ladders, lifts and etc.
    • Must be dependable, responsible and prompt.
    • Must be organized and have strong attention to detail.
    • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior
    • Must have in possession a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
    • Basic computer skills
    • Ability to communicate on 2 way radio’s
    • Knowledgeable with voltage meters

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Will be required to work extended hours during designated heavy enrollment time.

 

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends in an often times busy and noisy environment.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Position requires some physical ability - may be required lift/move file boxes, tables, chairs, etc.

 

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking, listening and computer usage.
