Job Description

Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a Level 4 Systems Engineer, System Architect to support the Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) Systems Engineering and Integration Team (SEIT) programs. This position is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The selected candidate will primarily support the AWACS programs, specifically by supporting development of system upgrade programs for USAF, NATO and various International AWACS platforms. The candidate is expected to support the systems engineering technical leadership through the development and analysis or system architecture for the program.



  • Defines architecture framework of moderate scope and complexity comprised of a sufficient set of views and conditions
    to document and evaluate architectures.
  • Determines architecture related products and processes to define the architecture design activities and work tasks.
  • Defines architecture development plan to document and communicate to the stakeholders the architecture framework.
  • Establishes evaluation criteria and processes based on stakeholder requirements for architectural trade studies.
  • Tailors the system definition and architecture related portions of the Boeing systems engineering common process using
    project specific characteristics.
  • Leads the team in developing candidate architectures of moderate scope and complexity by assessing new technology
    readiness, ing appropriate domain patterns (e.g., increase reliability, safety, producibility), developing and deriving
    requirements, and ing the constraints to the candidate architectures to meet stakeholder requirements and to frame
    next level of design.
  • Creates an architecture description document to present selected architecture diagrams to stakeholders for review or
  • Creates a system description document to present an overview and narrative of system architecture to stakeholders for
    review or reference.
  • Leads team members in identifying and defining system capabilities (e.g., operational, functional).
  • Leads the team in conducting architecture requirement analyses for projects of moderate scope and complexity to ensure
    that requirements are met at all levels and functional requirements are traceable to customer needs.
  • Constructs, integrates, and maintains system architecture models of moderate scope and complexity to evaluate and
    compare architecture candidates in a consistent manner, expressing characteristics and supportive principles of a system
    to guide acceptable change.
  • Leads team members in the analysis of performance and suitability of system architecture by developing and integrating performance budgets, and evaluating measures of effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in performing Systems Engineering.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience leading a Systems Engineering team (3 or more years is preferred)
  • AWACS (or applicable) Experience.
  • Experience developing and executing quality requirements on major DoD or NATO programs.
  • Working knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or SysML.
  • Working knowledge with architecture modeling, using tools such as Rhapsody or Magic Draw.
  • Working knowledge with DOORS (requirements management tool).


Typical Education / Experience

Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
