OSU – Oklahoma City, located in the heart of Oklahoma City, is looking for a Financial Aid Specialist.



Job Summary:


Responsible for assisting students and parents, by phone or in person, with the completion of applications needed to apply for federal, state, and institutional aid.  Assistants will serve as the initial contact for students, parents, internal and external agency inquiries regarding financial aid and scholarships.


Pay Rate:  $10.37 per hour











Associate Degree or equivalent related experience with some college courses completed


Preferred Qualifications:


Bachelors Degree.

Previous work experience in Higher Education and/or Financial Aid.





Work Experience:


Customer service oriented person who has experience working in an office setting in a fast-paced environment.

Three years’ experience in a record-keeping/customer service environment or equivalent education



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


High degree of integrity; ability to work in a sensitive, highly confidential and professional environment   

Ability to handle multiple task and prioritize effectively

Proficient computer Skills

Communication skills to professionally exchange information, give/receive instructions and to accurately respond to inquiries.  

Ability to understand and adhere to institutional policies and procedures. 

Must possess positive public relations skills and be student-centered.

Ability to accurately and expediently process and analyze detailed paperwork. 

Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and community partners. 

Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately.

Working knowledge of college-level student records procedures, documentation, standards and regulations (including FERPA)

Passion for assisting students with educational endeavors and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism

Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior


Working Conditions:


Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends in an often times busy and noisy environment.

Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email.  





Physical Requirements:


During peak enrollment and processing periods must be able to handle high volume of phone calls and student inquiries. 

Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening and computer usage. 

Must be able to lift 25 pounds
