BASIC PURPOSE: The Information Security analyst provides advice and expertise to IT staff and other departments related to information security issues.  The Analyst monitors the threat landscape, prepares risk and vulnerability assessments, performs regulatory compliance reviews, creates process documentation, and otherwise contributes to the development and maintenance of a sound information security program.  The Information Security Analyst reports to the Manager of Information Security.



  • Participates in IT and Operations projects as needed to support information security architecture and integration of all security elements
  • Provides expertise to the business related to information security best practices and architecture
  • Participates in, and/or leads information security audit activities, including PCI and HIPAA
  • Researches the threat landscape and conducts vulnerability analysis on emerging risks to the organization
  • Recommends remediation activities to management
  • Participates in the information security risk assessment process
  • Participates in management and update of the Information Security Risk Register
  • Works with third-party support and security equipment vendors
  • Conducts research on information technology products and services in support of procurement and development efforts. Evaluates and recommends products for purchase
  • Participates in the creation and upkeep of information security processes and documentation
  • Participates in and/or leads security related projects as directed by the Manager of Information Security
  • Receives and responds to after hour calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding security problems whenever necessary
  • Other duties assigned as needed


  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • CISA or PCIP strongly preferred
    • CISSP, CASP, or other security generalist certification a plus
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years in Information Security strongly preferred
    • Significant experience with the PCI-DSS standard, preferably in retail
    • Experience assessing risk and providing thought leadership to non-security project personnel
    • Knowledge and understanding of SDLC


  • Skills:
    • Excellent technical knowledge of security, infrastructure and application development
    • Good understanding of the Company’s goals and objectives
    • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
    • Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required
    • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
    • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
    • Highly self-motivated and directed
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Strong customer service orientation; experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment


  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
