Boeing Defence UK realises its Science and Technology, and Research and Development requirements through its Advanced Systems group located at Bristol and Fleet, Hampshire.
BDUK Advanced Systems employs innovative, highly skilled and mission motivated engineers capable of engineering differentiating high quality systems and solutions at high velocity.  The team develops innovative information management and exploitation solutions for applications across a diverse set of C4ISR domains and contexts that include, but are not limited to intelligence, cyber, logistics, and training.
 
The Person
Boeing Defence UK is looking for innovative, talented and mission-motivated DevOps Engineer to join the Advanced Systems team designing and delivering the capability enabling the development of cutting edge next generation software solutions.
As a DevOps Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with our Advanced Software Development Team in an Agile development environment, and help leverage the power of Continuous Integration to drive releases to our customers. You will also be capable and confident in supporting and maintaining the technical aspects of the development environment through your skills in Systems Administration. You will work to drive Automation improvements in our Continuous Integration infrastructure to support Continuous Test and Transition throughout the product delivery lifecycle, whilst maintaining compliance and quality.
 
This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. CANDIDATES MUST HAVE CURRENT LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK WITHIN THE UNITED KINGDOM. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level.

Qualifications

Essential Skills
We seek individuals who can:
•             Be responsible for the daily build and release operations of multiple key software solutions, and communication with development, QA, Tech Support and Product Management.
•             Be responsible for the creation, implementation, and maintenance (including upgrades) of all tools utilised in our product development and delivery process.
•             Be responsible for automation of builds, and process improvements for multiple product lines.
•             Manage code repositories and support software integration.
•             Understand our architecture of systems including analysis, design, integration and development.
•             Establish and maintain a branching/merge strategy consistent with product delivery processes.
•             Be responsible for the maintenance, support, and improvement of the software and hardware infrastructure that supports the DevOps toolchain.
•             Work confidently with version control, issue tracking, code review and continuous integration principles and toolsets.
•             Use of their software development or systems administration background to understand the complexities of solution delivery.
 
 
Desirable Skills
•             Technical fluency in the configuration, administration and usage of the Atlassian Toolset, including Bamboo, BitBucket, and JIRA.
•             Technical fluency in an Open Source focused environment supported by multiple operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
•             Experience of integrating COTS and Open Source software systems, such as producing interface definitions.
•             Design and delivery of Containerization and Orchestration frameworks such as Docker, Kubernetes, CloudFoundry and OpenShift.
•             Design and delivery of Private Cloud platforms such as OpenStack and VMWare, including hybrid cloud approaches built on those technologies.
•             Configuration and secure data management.
