OSU – Oklahoma City, located in the heart of Oklahoma City, is looking for a Lead Developer

 


Job Summary:

 

 

This position will perform the following campus-wide skilled level duties:

 

  • Provides campus-wide database application development, support, and training;

  • Maintains virtual environments to support database applications;

  • Coordinates with third-party entities to resolve complex problems requiring action;

  • Generates data reports for both internal and external customers; and

  • Stays informed of emerging technologies that could benefit the department and the University.



Salary:  $17.47 per hour



 

Essential Job Functions:

 

 

 

  1. Process jobs on Student Information System (Banner) and submits jobs for automated processing;

  2. Develops reports using COGNOS Report Studio for campus departments and third-party entities;

  3. Analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of database applications;

  4. Server hardware and software installation to support database applications;

  5. Database documentation, diagramming, design, technical support, and training;

  6. Develops backend software to drive interactive kiosks and information plasma screens;

  7. Works with third-party vendor to coordinate installation and maintenance of database applications and hardware such as cash registers, card readers, and kiosks;

  8. Provides second-level support and management of media content delivery system;

  9. Develops web front-ends for private applications such as phonebook, faculty web pages, vehicle reservation, etc.;

  10. Develops dynamic or database driven front-ends for public applications such as Public Relation’s news, employee directory, calendar of events, departmental phone listings, faculty web pages, etc.; and

  11. Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development each year.

  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 

 

 

Education:


 

Associate Degree in technology-related discipline, equivalent work experience, industry-recognized certification(s), or a combination of these.

 



 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Experience using SQL Server 2008 (or higher) Integration Services and Analysis Services

  • Experience with ASP.NET and MSSQL

  • Experience working in higher education

  • Experience with installation and maintenance of server software and hardware

  • Experience with SharePoint, including administrative tasks

  • Experience using Banner Student Information System and/or COGNOS Report Studio



 

 

Work Experience:

Must have two to three years combined experience in the following areas


  • Working in small group settings to accomplish goals

  • Designing and using relational databases with SQL or similar language

  • Web-based and/or object-oriented programming with languages such as ASP.NET, PHP, and/or Java

  • Installation and maintenance of desktop software and hardware

  • Remote assistance and software installation

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to work in small groups to analyze problems and develop timely solutions

  • Ability to cooperate with other IT personnel to resolve database and virtual environment issues

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel, Access, and SharePoint

  • Understanding of Web-based and object-oriented programming using languages such as ASP.NET, PHP, and/or Java

  • Working knowledge of designing and using relational databases

 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and higher

  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

Duties require extended periods of sitting and computer usage

Normal office environment. Occasional evenings and weekends maybe required based on needs of the department, implementations, or emergencies.

Other than those physical/mental requirements included within the essential functions, this position. Requires possible lifting of up to 45 lbs (if an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two person lift.) Requires proper handling of computers, components and technology equipment, use of both hands in repetitive actions, simple grasping, and fine manipulation
