Job Function:

Directs the production of printing, copying, duplicating, bindery and mailing services consistent with, but not limited to, scheduling of projects, ordering paper stock, supplies, and materials, and conferring with institutional employees and outside vendors in the completion of projects. Supervision of Print Coordinator, Mail Coordinator, temporary and work-study employees.  Creates and maintains computerized record-keeping and prepares statements of accounts to campus customers and outside customers. Provides assistance and back-up to all areas/functions as needed. Instructs personnel in use of equipment, supplies, and techniques used. Prioritizes workflow in all areas. Works with Communications to order all promo items for the campus.

 

Pay Rate: 

$17.47 hourly

Essential Job Functions: 

1.      Coordination of daily operations of the department.

2.      Supervision of Printing Coordinator and Mail Coordinator to include developing and maintaining job descriptions, timely and detailed performance appraisals, hiring / counseling staff, and assigning daily activities.

3.      Trains and supervises temporary and workstudy employees.

4.      Prioritize the work flow within the printing, duplicating, bindery and mailing areas.

5.      Proofs (or assigns proof responsibility for) projects to assure standards are met concerning structure and quality of published material.

6.      Oversees the ordering of supplies and materials for departmental and campus use.

7.      Operates various equipment as needed and assists co-employees in the operation of equipment.

8.      Process invoices and generates billing for payment of supplies and materials received.

9.      Coordinates projects with outside vendors as needed.

10.   Works with Communications to order all promo items for the campus.

11.   Writing specifications for outsourced projects.

12.   Maintains equipment on limited basis.

13.   Meet with customers to discuss projects.

14.   Maintains system of pertinent record-keeping for the department.

15.   Maintains all interior signage.

16. Assists in all areas of the department when required.

17. Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development opportunities a year.

18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in graphic art or related field required or completion of equivalent educational hours.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5-7 years experience in commercial and/or inplant printing operations with three years in a supervisory position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree prefered or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with all areas of printing and duplicating, bindery, graphic arts, and use of related equipment
  • Knowledge of mailing processes including, but not limited to, postal regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge of computer systems related to the development of tracking and record-keeping applications
  • Must have extensive knowledge of equipment and techniques used in the printing trade
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software and hardware.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment.
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment. May be exposed to chemicals used in graphic arts industry.

Physical Requirements:

Position will require sitting, standing and walking for the majority of day.  Must possess manual dexterity, visual ability and physical stamina to move and lift boxes and objects weighing up to 45 lbs. If an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two person lift.
