Job Description
The person in this role will be responsible for updating, maintaining, and executing the BDS Fabrication Advanced Manufacturing strategy and roadmaps which includes 777X St. Louis. The role reports to the Director of Innovation and Advanced Operations within the BDS Operations organization.
Advanced Manufacturing includes but is not limited to: Additive Manufacturing, Automation, Collaborative Robotics, Digitalization (Digital Thread, Digital Standard Work, Model-based Instructions, Augmented Reality, Mobility Tools, etc.)
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead a cross-functional operating rhythm to perform execution oversight of the Fabrication Advanced Manufacturing roadmaps
  • Maintain relevance and schedule integration to meet each Fabrication Center of Excellence's strategic and business objectives in a timely manner
  • Ensure funding and resources are in place to execute roadmap projects on-time and within budget.  This funding includes but is not limited to IAD, IRAD, Capital, IT, and BR&T funding.
  • Lead execution of individual Advanced Manufacturing projects, as required
  • Align and integrate activities with BDS and Enterprise initiatives such as Plant Centric, DM4SC and 2CES
  • Present performance to plan periodically to the VP of BDS Fabrication and other senior leadership
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest / art of the possible fabrication technologies
  • Maintain catalog of fabrication technologies and manufacturing capabilities that can be used to address top fabrication bottlenecks and pain points
  • Identify and prioritize production system needs (ex. bottlenecks and pain points) based on improvement opportunities in the areas of safety, quality, cost, and productivity as well as the other key Plant Centric metrics.
  • Develop rough order of magnitude business cases to use as a prioritization mechanism for chartering Advanced Manufacturing projects and tracking them on the roadmaps
  • Align technologies and capabilities to address top production system needs then track implementation of those capabilities via the aforementioned roadmaps and operating rhythm
  • Develop right-sized RFQs to articulate  production system needs to key stakeholders including but not limited to BR&T, IT, HorizonX, and external partners
  • Facilitate Manufacturing Readiness Level assessments, as required, for technologies and capabilities with a cross-functional team (NOTE - MRL training will be provided if necessary)

Qualifications

Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment
  • Experience in Program Management
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience contributing to new technology implementation into production environment
  • Experience with Program Management Best Practices
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience that demonstrates familiarity with state of the art manufacturing technologies specifically within fabrication
  • Experience communicating to the executive level via presentations or other methods
  • Experience performing execution oversight of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Management, SSG, BR&T, and IT to implement a change to the production floor
  • Experience seeking and obtaining funding approval for capital, IAD, IRAD, IT funds, or BR&T funds
