Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Motel Housekeeping Associate will be responsible for creating a clean and orderly environment for all motel guests. The areas of the motel include, but not limited to: guest rooms, lobbies, halls or corridors, laundry facilities and parking lots. Position may require fulfilling the Sales Associate in the convenience store, please see Sales Associate job description for full details.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, comfortable and tidy environment for all customers
  • Sweep, scrub, mop and polish floors
  • Vacuum and clean carpets, rugs and draperies
  • Shampoo carpets, rugs and upholstery
  • Dust and polish furniture and fittings
  • Clean metal fixtures and fittings
  • Empty and clean trash containers
  • Dispose of trash in a safe and sanitary manner
  • Clean sinks, mirrors, tubs and showers
  • Wipe down glass surfaces
  • Make up beds and change linens as required
  • Wash windows as needed
  • Sort, wash, load, unload, and fold laundry/linens
  • Operate mechanized cleaning equipment
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition
  • Distribute linen, towels and room supplies using wheeled carts or by hand
  • Replace room supplies such as drinking glasses, soaps, shampoos, writing supplies, etc.
  • Ensure all appliances in rooms are clean and operational
  • Realign furniture and amenities according to prescribed layout
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of guest rooms
  • Follow all company safety and security procedures
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards
  • Observe and report damage or motel property
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods
  • Working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment
  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work quickly without compromising quality
  • Work as a "team" member to assure constant and consistent customer satisfaction.
  • Availability to work any and all scheduled hours, as attendance is crucial, and be available to work occasional unscheduled shifts as requested or needed.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift or move material weighing up to 55 pounds as needed
  • Ability to stand on your feet for up to a full eight hour shift in performance of job duties
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at the eighth-grade level, including the ability to hear the spoken word
  • Sufficient visual acuity
  • Ability to reach/work overhead, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend at waist and crouch when needed
  • Be able to react to fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 20 pounds, moving it to the fire area, and use it appropriately
  • Be able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products, follow directions on the label
  • Be able to climb a ladder to clean windows and fixtures
  • Be able to walk up or down a flight of stairs as needed
  • Be able to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the motel
