Job Description

Boeing is currently staffing a new C-17 Site in support of Indian Air Force at Hindan Air Base (near New Delhi), India.  This is an Ex-Pat assignment. C-17 Globemaster Integrated Sustainment Program (GISP) supporting Indian customer.


The successful candidate will participate in Organizational level maintenance activities (e.g. flight line and back shop tasks including aircraft servicing, fault diagnosis, component replacement, and structural repair) associated with day-to-day operations of C-17 Globemaster III aircraft to meet IAF mission requirements; and Intermediate level maintenance activities (e.g. back shop tasks including component repair, wheel and tire break down and build up, composite and structural repair, and scheduled periodic inspections).


Leads the assembly disassembly and modification of systems by overseeing the change removal replacement or upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.

Oversees assembly disassembly or overhaul.

Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.

Directs troubleshooting of complex pneumatic hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.

Oversees validation/verification testing of systems and components.

Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g. repairs test results applicable modifications and inspection results). Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.

Leads and supervises others to perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking towing system operations).

Provides training and mentors others.

Provide training to less qualified mechanics.


Ideal candidates would work unsupervised for extended periods of time in a wide variety of socio-cultural and economic environments.


Must be willing to travel and be on-call 24/7.

This is a long term Ex-Pat  assignment in India.


Candidate must be capable of obtaining a US Passport. The employment would be subject to the candidates' ability to satisfy all India labor and immigration formalities. 

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.  § 120.15 is required.


Position will be first or second shift; be cross utilized to perform servicing and team member activities; travel to support remote maintenance activities and recover inoperative forward deployed aircraft.


Additional C-17 maintenance training may be required.


Must have experience in operating and repairing integrated air vehicle electrical and mechanical control systems, aircraft engines, auxiliary power units and alternate mission equipment, and accomplishing metallic and composite structural repairs.

Familiar with both USAF (US Air Force) and C-17 Technical Orders, G081 maintenance data base, and able to interpret system schematic diagrams to isolate mechanical faults and repair faulty components.


Prefer training or certified competency on C-17 aircraft; FAA Airframe & Power plant Certification, and experience as a flying crew chief on C-17s.


Ability to operate shop equipment to disassemble, troubleshoot, inspect and repair aircraft components and assemblies; and work with structural and composite components.

Work may require responding during off-hours and weekends.



Typical Education / Experience:

High school diploma or GED and typically 7 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Preferred candidate will have 7-10 or more years' related experience out of which at least 6 years must be on C-17 aircraft maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
