OSU – Oklahoma City, located in the heart of Oklahoma City, is looking for an Recruitment Specialist/Career Tech Outreach.


Job Summary:

The Recruitment Specialist is responsible for all matters pertaining to student outreach and recruitment for applied science degree programs at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City. The objectives of this position are to plan, implement and evaluate programs and activities to recruit prospective students for admission and enrollment; identify target markets and support implementation of the marketing/recruitment plan; assist students through the application/admission process; and represent the institution both on and off campus to students, parents, counselors, and other individuals and organizations. A specialty of this position involves the coordination of outreach efforts for career technology center students. Additionally, this position assists with the promotion and management of high school concurrent enrollment opportunities, including off-site course offerings. 

Rate of Pay: $14.20 per hour



Essential Job Functions:



 1.      Assist prospective students in the college decision-making, application/admission and enrollment process. Communicate information to prospective students and other stakeholders regarding educational/career opportunities, the processes involved with becoming a student, and support resources.


2.      Manage the prospective student communication plan. Respond to inquiries from prospective students using, but not limited to, telephone, email, and social media platforms.

3.      Recruit prospective students by making high school/career technology center visits, attending college fairs and participating in community events where a career technology/concurrent enrollment outreach presence is appropriate.

4.      Prepare and deliver specialized presentations for target audiences on a variety of topics related to the institution and higher education.

5.      Ensure that data related to prospective students is collected, entered and maintained in a manner that effectively supports student relationship management and increases applicant yield.

6.      Cultivate relations with high school/career technology center personnel, community organizations and other stakeholders. Serve as a liaison/point of contact to career technology centers and off-site concurrent enrollment locations.

7.      Establish outreach/recruitment efforts targeted towards prospective students interested in pursuing an applied science degree program.

8.      Assist with special events and activities to bring prospective students and other constituent groups to the campus.

9.      Coordinates the planning, scheduling and implementation of individualized and group campus visits and tours.

10.  Collaborate with other units on campus to develop, implement and assess activities designed to support an integrated marketing and recruitment strategy.

11.  Assists with the development of printed marketing materials and management of content on webpages and social media sites.

12.  Participates in community and professional organizations as a representative of OSU-OKC when applicable.

13.  Assist with the management of Carl Perkins Grant funds, including but not limited to, special projects and ongoing activities related to the grant.

14.  Provide support for the Admissions Office by assisting with evaluating incoming documents and processing admission applications for students transitioning from career technology centers and/or participating in off-site high school concurrent enrollment programs.

15.  Trains and supervises student employees and volunteers as needed.

16. Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development each year.

17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge and experience in recruiting, public speaking, event planning, marketing/public relations or other related field.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with career technology centers. 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of two years progressively responsible work experience in a related field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and customer service rich environment.
  • Experience working in both collaborative/team environments and in positions that require individualized work with minimal supervision



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately.
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills required.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Demonstrated coordination, planning, and organizational skills
  • Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads and public/student contact.
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate within a team environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Very strong experience working with office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
  • Ability to develop and deliver a wide variety of presentations to both small and large groups.  
  • Passion for assisting students with educational endeavors and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior



Working Conditions: 

  • Must be able to frequently work flexible hours to include some nights, early mornings and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in an often busy and noisy environment.
  • Extensive travel within Oklahoma, primarily in the Oklahoma City and surrounding area, is required.




Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking and listening.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle to attend off campus events.
  • Moderate lifting and carrying (15 to 30 lbs.)
