Job Summary/Basic Function:

We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, team-oriented individual to contribute to the Myositis Testing Laboratory (https://omrf.org/research-faculty/core-facilities/myositis-testing/). Duties will include assisting with a variety of immunological and molecular biology techniques (immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting), blood sample processing, and associated record keeping.

Work Hours:

Typically Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00, but must be willing to work occasional overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.


Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA degree in one of the biological sciences, medical laboratory, chemistry or physics and previous research exposure in a classroom or professional setting and 1 – 2 years of lab experience.

Should have experience using computers and databases. Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills and strong work ethic. Must be professional, team oriented, and personable. Must be able to take direction, follow instructions and take meticulous records. Has an interest in helping in patient-oriented clinical research.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous with radioactivity, protein and RNA immunoprecipitation, large gels, cell culture/sterile techniques and CAP/CLIA certification processes highly preferred.


Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, use manual dexterity, talk or hear; Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or rodent dander. May work with toxic, caustic chemicals, radioactive materials, liquid nitrogen, human tissue or blood. Potential risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to cold 4C, and/or extreme cold -80C from freezers. Noise level is usually moderate.
