BASIC PURPOSE:  Provides infrastructure and mid-tier support for both physical and virtual servers.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports servers in both production and non-production environments, including but not limited to software, firmware, and BIOS upgrades as needed, along with OS and vendor product patching.
  • Troubleshoots server and operating system issues, including escalation to other infrastructure teams, coordination with vendors, and escalation of priority issues to management.
  • Performs server builds in accordance with company-provided guidelines and procedures, both physical and virtual.
  • Familiarity with basic change control, ticketing, and security processes and procedures.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled tasks such as daily file transmissions to their respective endpoints.
  • Review and implementation of active directory policies.
  • All other system administration duties as needed and directed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in IT or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience:

  • 4+ years’ experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, with strengths in Active Directory and Windows 2008/ 2012
  • 2+ years’ experience in VMWare, with knowledge of version 5.x or above preferred
  • Able to troubleshoot problems systematically
  • Software support and testing
  • Software development fundamentals, processes, and software requirements
  • Teamwork- Must be able to effectively work with other team members and departments within the company
  • Communication skills- ability to communicate with others (technical and non-technical) both written and verbally

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Fluent English language skills.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
