Summary/Objective

The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for

effective provisioning, installation/configuration,

operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and

software and related infrastructure. This position

responds to all issues from the helpdesk and directly

with user requests at the Corken facility for hardware

and software support (OS issues, JDEdwards, MS

Office, Cisco VPN, etc.). This individual also participates

in technical research and development to enable

continuing innovation within the infrastructure. A

successful candidate ensures that system hardware,

operating systems, software systems, and related

procedures adhere to organizational standards. In many

cases this individual will interface between the end-user

and 3rd party support systems (Corporate IT and vendor

provided), to provide resolutions to issues.


This individual is accoun
table for the following

systems/hardware: Windows Server Systems (2008 -

2016), Windows 7, 10 and XP clients, MS Hyper-V

cluster, NetAPP SAN; Dell hardware (servers, desktops

and laptops); Backup and Disaster Recovery

technologies (Backup Exec); basic support for Cisco

VoIP phone systems; Server and Desktop Software

support; level 1 JDE Troubleshooting and support; basic

support for Cisco and Dell switches. Responsibilities on

these systems include provisioning, operations and

support, maintenance and research and development to

ensure continual innovation.

Essential Functions

  • Install new and rebuild existing clients and servers, peripherals, phones, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards
  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
  • Provide front-line support for helpdesk of facility and in some cases, escalate issues to vendors or internal resources where necessary
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Create, change, delete and document user accounts per request following company policies
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with impacted users
  • Troubleshoot software issues including JDE (level 1 support), productivity software and various packages used by the facility
  • Troubleshoot and develop reports using Webi and other reporting tools
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
  • Configure and/or add new services as necessary
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports company infrastructure
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Monitor environment and control access to data center and equipment
  • Review, audit and document system access and controls in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company
  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output
  • Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree with a Technical Major or four (4) years of system administration experience
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer Certification in Microsoft
  • Experience in report writing and trouble writing

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in JDEdwards Environmental

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level

may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud

in the plant area.  Proper use of safety equipment such as

steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron

and face shield must be observed.
