Job Description

Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking an entry level (Level 2) Systems Engineer to join the Airborne Surveillance Command and Control (ASC2) program. The ASC2 program provides engineering support for the Airborne Warning Control Systems (AWACS) and Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) programs. This position is based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

 

This unique role requires an understanding of engineering processes and the ability to communicate engineering requirements into a contractually sound technical baseline. The individual must be enthusiastic and hands on in their approach and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Some travel may be required, and may be for extended periods of time working away from the Oklahoma City location.

 


Responsibilities:

  • With assistance from a lead, can participate in the resolution of cross-functional technical issues identified by others to ensure optimized solutions.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of integrated planning products and associated data gathering.
  • Supports the interface characterization and maintenance processes with limited assistance from Lead.
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes and tools with limited assistance from Lead.
  • With limited assistance from lead, supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of risk, issues opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes and tools.
  • Supports the following supplier Systems Engineering (SE) tasks: planning, documentation, release, change management and communication of Buy-to-Package (BTP) elements such as the Supplier Statement of Work and Supplier Data Requirements; coordination and preparation, release and changes to Product Definition Documents; coordination of BTP elements with Supplier Management and Procurement; supporting the Request for Proposal, supplier source selection, and Purchase Contract negotiation processes; supporting cost evaluation on Engineering elements of supplier proposals; integrating supplier SE process with the Boeing SE process.
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of Systems Engineering assessment/program milestone reviews and corrective action plans with limited assistance from Lead.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of technical metrics process and tools certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • 2 years' experience with Systems Engineering (or related experience).
  • Experience with military commercial derivative aircraft.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic knowledge of military aircraft systems. 
  • Basic knowledge of the AWACS or AEW&C programs.

Typical Education / Experience

Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
