BASIC PURPOSE: Under broad direction and supervision, develops, maintains, and enhances Tableau server and its accompanying infrastructure



  • Administer and support a multi-tier Tableau infrastructure; Create/Manage Groups, Workbooks and Projects, Database Views, Data Sources and Data Connections
  • Add/Edit Site administration rights (System vs. Content)
  • Create/Modify/Manage server task schedules Monitor server activity/usage statistics to identify possible performance issues/enhancements
  • Upgrade server software
  • Enforce policies
  • Assist users with workflows; Provide Tableau support to users
  • Set up documentation for policies, procedures and best development practices
  • Coordination of admin activities with other administrators
  • Coordination with vendor for problem resolution and training sessions for the tenants



  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or similar field preferred
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years hands-on experience with Tableau as an Admin/Developer
    • 5+ years experience in large scalable enterprise systems development
    • Expert knowledge of Tableau installation, administration and configuration
    • Knowledge of Tableau maintenance, performance monitoring and tuning
    • Understanding of how to implement promotion methodology and version control in Tableau
    • SAML SSO Setup for Tableau servers
    • Tableau Sparkler Interface for SalesForce
    • Familiarity with java and ETL highly preferred
    • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting highly preferred
    • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Server Environments

  • Comfort with creating and maintaining meaningful and digestible products using the Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to of managing 200+ emails per day
  • Ability to manage numerous competing demands in an extremely high stress environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
