BASIC PURPOSE:  The Video Production Assistant will work as part of a collaborative team to plan, produce and publish video content and training materials for the training department of a growing retail company that has been in business for over 50 years. 



  • Develop and assist in drafting and refining training concepts, storyboards, scripts and shot lists to support media initiatives.
  • Assist and/or work independently on video productions from beginning to end.
  • Maintain training department schedules for media production and projects requiring video.
  • Manage and publish digital content to Learning Management System and online video library.
  • Maintain and run equipment including video cameras, lights sets, teleprompters, still cameras, projectors and/or audio equipment.
  • Assist with the review and update of content in all training mediums.
  • Set up and operate media equipment necessary for department training events.
  • Other duties as assigned.




  • College or technical degree in Visual Communications (emphasis in film/video) or related field required; equivalent combination of education and professional training required.



  • 1 year of video production experience required
  • 3 years of video production experience preferred
  • Experience doing voiceovers and scriptwriting a plus




  • Must have proven video production skills and proficiency with Adobe Premiere CC, Adobe Audition CC, Adobe Media Encoder CC, and Adobe Photoshop CC.
  • Recommended to have proficiency in Adobe After Effects CC, Adobe Speed Grad CC, Adobe InDesign CC, Adobe Illustrator CC, and Flash editing.
  • Proficient at shooting HD video using DSLRs (traditional and cinema configurations) and wireless mics.
  • Soft Skills: Able to adapt to change, flexible with shifting customer requests, creativity, good verbal and written communication skills, self-starter, works well with others, strong time management skills, strong organization skills, sense of urgency, make effective decisions, strong problem solving skills, strong work ethic, dependable, detail-oriented, and willingness to work flexible hours and travel as required.


Typical Physical Demands:

  • Requires ability to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a camera, computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Some travel may be required.
