Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all repairs, replacements, etc. on all aircraft systems and airframes in a safe and expeditious manner and within FAA and/or manufacturer’s specifications
  • Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects
  • Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, structural components and accessories, using hand tools and power tools
  • Assist mechanics and inspection personnel in finding unsafe or potential problems with customer’s articles. Report errors and do repairs/overhauls as needed
  • Become familiar with all technical publications (maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, etc.)
  • Work and communicate closely with other shop and office personnel to ensure scope of work and schedule are realized
  • Become familiar and proficient with all shop test and maintenance gear
  • Perform all tasks assigned by management in a timely and safe manner
  • Maintain a clean and neat work area. Help with other housekeeping duties as assigned
  • Other activities and projects as approved by the Chief Inspector, Product Line Manager or the Accountable Manager.

Requirements

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • Frequent exposure to general shop conditions
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, and solvents

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Required:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Active A&P License
    • Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, instruments, precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models involved in the repair of general aviation articles.
    • Basic computer aptitude
    • Communication skills with the ability to read, comprehend and recite detailed instructions and correspondence.
  • Preferred:
    • IA (Inspection Authorization)
    • Experience with Part 145 FAA Repair Stations
    • Magnetic Particle Inspection/Liquid Penetrant Inspection experience


Mathematical Skills: 

  • Basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing


Reasoning Ability: 

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
