 Job Description:

To develop, maintain, improve, and administer Initial College Studies Math courses. To develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to aid students in learning and understanding the subject matter presented to them.

 

Other performance measures:

 

Successful performance of the job requires creativity, initiative, and effective problem solving skills. Qualified individuals must work constructively with faculty, staff, and university officials to accomplish essential job functions. An incumbent must use tact, diplomacy, and professionalism at all times; follow school dress standards, adhere to departmental and divisional attendance and leave policies, and maintain appropriate habits conducive to a productive and professional work environment.

Rate of Pay: $650 per credit hour

 

Requirements

Education:

Master’s Degree in Mathematics or Master’s Degree in related field with 18 graduate hours in mathematics

Experience:

Teaching experience or teaching certificate in Mathematics

Preferred:

Experience using Pearson MyMathLab

 

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required:

 

  • Thorough knowledge of the content area
  • Instructional design focused on student learning
  • Minimum three (3) years teaching and classroom management experience
  • Proven success working with developmental students
  • Experience with various instructional technologies
  • Familiarity with student learning assessment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Passion for assisting students/customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior

 

Communication skills Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English and prepare complex reports on deadline; requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, alumni, advisory committee members, and the public, using tact, discretion, and independent judgment.

 

Computer skills Must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as e-mail and Internet. Must be demonstrably proficient in the technical and content aspects of math software programs, as well as the technology involved with Internet courses.

 

Working Conditions:   

  • Normal office working environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in an often busy and noisy environment.

 

Physical Requirements:  

Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening and computer usage.
