Job Function:



Part-time faculty teach under the direction of the Department Municipal Fire Protection Administration in a variety of public safety related courses. Part-time faculty are non-tenure, serve single term assignments with no guarantee of future assignments.



Rate of Pay:  $625.00



  • Firefighter II
  • Hazardous material operations


Essential Job Functions:

1.      Teaches public safety related course(s) as assigned by the Department Head.

2.      Exhibits innovative and adaptive instructional methods.

3.      Assists in the design and revision of courses and curricula.

4.      Complies with all laws, regulations, rules, and policies governing education, accreditation, and assessment.

5.      Maintains course and student records per laws, regulations, rules, and campus/program policies.

6.      Participates in staff development thorough format course work, seminars, workshops, professional organizations, or professional literary material as required.

7.      Attends college-wide, division and department/program meetings as required.

9.    Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development opportunities each year.

10.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirement for education is a bachelor's degree.


Work Experience:

Minimum three years with a Fire Department.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge in Fire Department operations, management and leadership functions.
  • Ability to update curriculum to meet changing trends in the fire service.
  • Ability to present material in the traditional or online classroom environment.
  • Ability to conduct formative and summarative assessment of student learning.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, displaying and requiring professionalism in all classroom activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Fire Department representative on meeting program goals and learning outcomes.
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.



Bachelor's Degree

Previous teaching or training officer experience

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • This position is consistent with those of a typical office work environment. Must be able to sit or stand in performing computer functions for extended periods of time.
