Job Function:

May teach classes in the Veterinary Technology curriculum as desired by the Department Head.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Maintain syllabus, assignments, and exams as necessary
  2. Communicate progress in the course to students in a timely manner
  3. Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance and progress and provide them to administration in accordance with established institutional policies and procedures
  4. Maintain a presence in the online classroom
  5. Participate in student retention and persistence efforts
  6. Support the mission of the program, division, and college
  7. Adhere to required class meeting times for lectures and labs
  8. Foster a safe and effective teaching and learning environment
  9. Completes all mandatory training.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree

              OR

  • BS- RVT

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the college level
  • Working in a private practice or academic veterinary institution

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations.
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, general computing skills, and the Online Classroom
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior

Working Conditions:

  •  Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends in an often times busy and noisy environment.
  • Work will be performed in an office and classroom environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening and computer usage.
