Job Function:

The work of Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) is centered on three principles; student success, employee excellence, and community relevance.  The Coordinator of Student Development works within the context of the three principles and collaborates with the Director of Student Engagement and stakeholders across campus to design, implement, and continuously improve the impact of activities that create innovative, intentional, and meaningful student interactions that support students' path from recruitment to on-time completion.  

Pay Rate: $19.08/hr.

Essential Job Functions:  

  1. Utilize data available to support the review and strengthening of existing programs, and the planning of new programs that yield a meaningful impact on the greatest number of individuals.
  2. Collaborate with recruitment, admissions, and advising to support students through recruitment and onboarding to on-time completion. 
  3. Collaborate to support the development and expansion of programming that supports diversity and inclusivity.
  4. Serve as point of contact for Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) student initiatives.
  5. Coordinate and facilitate interaction with and among student groups, organizations and community-based volunteer activities.
  6. Complies with all state and university policies.
  7. Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development each year.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

 Bachelor’s Degree in related field


Work Experience:

2 years of experience leading and collaborating with teams to develop data informed strategies and work plans that progress individuals toward defined goals and outcomes.

2 years of demonstrated experience planning and organizing events. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Master’s Degree
  •  Three years of experience progressing diverse audiences toward defined outcomes.
  • Experience working with and managing groups, clubs, and organizations toward defined outcomes.

Student development: 

  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding of diverse perspectives. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries. 
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills required.
  • Strong experience working with office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Experience using data to inform continuous improvement. 
  • Experience using varied technologies to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of systems and programs that support progress toward defined outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact.


Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening, and computer usage
  • Travel may be required.
  • Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs (if an object weighs more than 45 pounds, OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two person lift.)

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact performed in person, by telephone and via email. 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends.
  • Must have valid Oklahoma Drivers License
