Job Function

Part-time faculty teach under the direction of the Department Head of Emergency Responder Administration in a variety of public safety related courses. Part-time faculty are non-tenure, serve single term assignments with no guarantee of future assignments.

Salary Rate: $650


Essential Job Functions:

1.      Teaches public safety related course(s) as assigned by the Department Head.

2.      Exhibits innovative and adaptive instructional methods.

3.      Assists in the design and revision of courses and curricula.

4.      Complies with all laws, regulations, rules, and policies governing education, accreditation, and assessment.

5.      Maintains course and student records per laws, regulations, rules, and campus/program policies.

6.      Participates in staff development thorough format course work, seminars, workshops, professional organizations, or professional literary material as required.

7.      Attends college-wide, division and department/program meetings as required.

9.    Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development opportunities each year.

10.  Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Master’s degree in a public safety field from a regionally accredited university with coursework in public safety administrative functions.

Work Experience:

·         Minimum three to five year’s employment experience in public safety.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High level of competence in teaching and assessment.
  • Knowledge of domains of learning and how to address each.
  • Strong working knowledge of public safety.
  • Methods and theory of assessing of student learning using quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Ability to write detailed assessment plans and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, displaying and requiring professionalism in all classroom activities.
  • Knowledge of audio-visual instructional equipment and computer programs.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel) as well as e-mail and internet navigation.
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in a public safety or related field from regionally accredited university.
  • Supervision of personnel in public safety field.
  • Previous higher education and online teaching experience.
