Job Function:

The Grant Assistant will be responsible for coordinating and carrying out the grant initiatives within the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program grant that was recently awarded to OSU-OKC.  This includes coordinating school visits, maintaining spending records and grant documents, tracking grant initiatives, and other grant related duties. This position will also assist the Farmers Market Manager to meet vendor and customer needs. 

Essential Job Functions:

      1.      Coordinate and carry out grant initiatives.

2.      Maintain spending records and grant documents.

3.      Track grant initiatives and related data.

4.      Coordinate visits to public schools and work with public school staff to coordinate field trips to OSU-OKC.

5.      Assist Farmers Market Manager at the Saturday morning market on occasion with oversight of the market in the Manager’s absence.  

6.      Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development each year.

7.      Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

 Work Experience:

  • Related work experience and a strong interest in providing high quality administrative support to a professional team
  • Experienced and comfortable working with numbers
  • Experience with document management


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Accurate typing/data entry skills and demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all market vendors, students, faculty, staff and community partners.
  • Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads and public/student contact.
  • Skilled in data recording/record keeping operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Organizational skills a must
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently; self motivated.
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior



 High school diploma or GED


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous grant or budgetary management experience.

Experience with general office operations, office management, or academic support.


Working Conditions: 

  •  Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email
  • Individual may be required to work Saturday mornings on occasion
  • Seasonal events, campus activities, etc. may require occasional extended hours 
  • Must have valid drivers license
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold, indoor/outdoor environment


Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening, walking and computer usage
  • May require bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and similar motions, as well as carrying/lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
