Job Function:

 Teaches a minimum twelve (12) credit hours per semester for laboratory classes or fifteen (15) credit hours for non-laboratory classes or equivalent service. This may include evening and/or online instruction. Presents information in a clear and concise format using a variety of instructional methods. Assesses student learning in regard to specific domains of learning. Provides guidance, advisement, and academic counseling to students in the Information Systems Technologies programs. Works cooperatively with peers, students, staff, and faculty as well as business and industry partners.

Essential Job Functions:


  1. Teach a minimum twelve (12) credit hours per semester for laboratory classes or fifteen (15) credit hours for non-laboratory classes or equivalent service. This may include evening and/or online instruction.
  2. Maintain student and course records.
  3. Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives and grading procedures for all courses.
  4. Advise and assist students in selecting appropriate academic courses.
  5. Post and keep office hours as per departmental standards.
  6. Make recommendations to the Department Head for Information Systems and Technologies regarding the Strategic Planning and Budget Development process.
  7. May serve as lead instructor.
  8. Implements the Student Success Model for retention.
  9. Implements the assessment model.
  10. Serve on special projects and committees.
  11. Assists in the designing/revising of courses and curricula.
  12. Participate in staff development through formal course work, seminars, workshops, professional organizations, or professional literary material.
  13. Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.
  14. Provide continuing education experiences for the community.
  15. Completes all mandatory training.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, computer information systems, or management information systems or business/higher education master’s degree with documented 18 credit hours of upper division computer courses.


Work Experience:

 Minimum 3 years experience teaching computer information systems courses in an academic setting. 


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching at a two-year college or university.

Experience teaching online courses.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • High level of competence in teaching.
  • Strong working knowledge of interpreting and evaluation systems.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to assess learning and student progress.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, displaying and requiring professionalism in all classroom activities.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications - Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email and internet.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft networking environment and associated certifications.
  • Maintain a professional and diplomatic demeanor and appearance.

  • Invested in student success.


  • Able to interact with supervisors, colleagues, students, alumni, advisory committee members, and the public, using tact, discretion, diplomacy, and independent judgment.
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior


Working Conditions:

Must be flexible to occasional changes in work schedule.

Physical Requirements:

 Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking, listening, and computer usage.
