Job Description:

To develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn the subject matter presented to them in order for that student to become a positive member of the community.

 Essential Job Functions:  

  1. Teach a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester for laboratory classes or fifteen (15) credit hours for non-laboratory classes or equivalent service.  This may include evening instruction.
  2. Maintain student and course records.

  3. Maintain and file current course outlines, objectives, syllabi and grading procedures for all courses.

  4. Post and keep office hours as per departmental standards.

  5. May serve as lead instructor.

  6. Implement the Student Success Model for retention.

  7. Implement the assessment model.

  8. Serve on special projects and committees.

  9. Assist in the designing and revising of courses and curricula.

  10. Participate in staff development through formal course work, seminars, workshops, professional organizations, or professional literary material

  11. Exhibit innovative and adaptive instructional methods.

  12. Provide continuing education experiences for the community.

  13. Completes all mandatory training

  14. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: 

Master’s degree in healthcare administration or related field, master’s degree with 18 credit hours in healthcare administration, or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field, plus industry certification in an aspect of healthcare administration

Work Experience:

Minimum 3 years teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Online teaching experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a healthcare setting
  • Certified Professional Coder

 

 Other Performance Measures: 

Successful performance of the job requires creativity, initiative, and effective problem solving.  Must work constructively with faculty, staff, and university officials to accomplish essential job functions.  An incumbent must use tact and diplomacy.  Following school dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns are required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Teaching Competence – Must be able to create lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; have the ability to assess student learning and progress.
  • Communication skills – Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English and prepare complex reports on deadline; requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, alumni, advisory committee members, and the public, using tact, discretion, and independent judgment.
  • Computer skills – Must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), as well as email, internet, and learning management systems.
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior

 Working Conditions: 

  • Instructor will perform duties in the classroom and online classroom.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends in an often times busy and noisy environment.
  • Work will be performed in an office and classroom environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email. 


Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, standing, talking, listening and computer usage
  • Instructor will be able to utilize online platform to teach and be able to communicate effectively with students.
