Journeyman Plumber

Responsible for all plumbing repairs and installations at the Foundation. Estimates material requirements and costs. Reviews and studies blueprints, building plans, building codes, and inspects structures to assess materials, work details, procedures, and equipment needed. Completes reports of job assignments and submits to management.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for plumbing including potable and non-potable water, domestic hot water, gas, and drainage systems within the Foundation; repairs and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures; opens clogged or frozen drains and pipes; removes obsolete or discontinued plumbing lines and fixtures; installs new plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, etc. and connects to outlet and inlet piping.
  • Estimates material requirements and costs, requisitioning necessary materials for each job assignment.
  • Reviews and studies building plans, blueprints, building codes, specifications, and inspects structures to assess materials, work details, procedures and equipment needed. Plans installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring and cuts passage holes in walls and floors for installation of pipes.
  • Installs new piping lines where required in existing structures or as planned in new construction.
  • Assembles pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering and welding equipment. Inspects all connections and other parts of piping systems for leaks and/or broken pipes.
  • Performs steam fitting, i.e., setting and connecting traps, valves and thermostats to pipe systems.
  • Completes work orders and preventive maintenance orders for completed job assignments detailing time, materials, and any comments. Submits reports to management daily, weekly, and monthly. 
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following safety rules and federal regulations.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

 Graduate of trade school or technical school in plumbing and/or welding and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience. Required to maintain current Oklahoma Plumbing License.

Has a current Journeyman's License

 

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.

 

Work Hours

Typical work hours Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4pm


 

Physical Demands

 

Regularly required to walk, stand, use manual dexterity, hear, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to hear, talk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds. Occasionally required to sit. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Regularly exposed to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, toxic fumes and caustic chemicals. Frequently exposed to weather conditions. Potential risk of electrical shock. Noise level is usually moderate.
