Job Functions:

  • Dissection of human cadavers throughout the semester 
  • Maintain lab equipment, laboratory cleaning, and cadaver preservation
  • Supervise Open Lab sessions
  • Assist Full-Time Lab Technician and Lead Anatomy Instructor
  • Follow Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Student Anatomy Lab Tech employee handbook


Essential Job Functions:


1. Dissection of the human cadavers.

2. Maintain and basic laboratory cleaning.

3. Supervising students during the “Open Lab” sessions.

4. Major cleaning of lab when needed and at the end of the semester.

5. Helping with inventory of lab equipment

6. Completes all mandatory Training and participated in a minimum of two professional   developments each year.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Work Experience  & Education

  • Attaining a Grade of a “B” or better from OSU-OKC BIOL2214 Human Anatomy Lecture and Cadaver Lab or BIOL1515 lecture with BIOL1212 Cadaver lab



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A working understanding of anatomy at least to a “B” level or higher from BIOL1214 or BIOL1515 lecture with BIOL1212 lab courses taught at OSU-OKC. 

  • Student Lab technicians must have a sense of the overall instruction of the anatomy course taken at OSU-OKC and be familiar with the presentation of cadavers.

  • Must be self motivated, willing to review anatomy materials, be able to follow written/oral instructions, and have appreciable hand eye coordination. 

  • Must be willing to safely operate and utilize dissection instruments, sharp objects such as scalpels and power tools.

  • Must have good personal communication skills and the ability to work without direct supervision while supervising students during “Open Lab” sessions.

  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism

  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Attaining a Grade of a “B” or higher from OSU-OKC Human Anatomy Lecture and Cadaver Lab- (BIOL1214) or (BIOL1515 lecture with BIOL1212 lab)

  • Recommendation from more than one of OSU-OKC Lab Instructors.

Work Hours and Days:

  • Student Laboratory Technicians will work a variety of hours on the weeknights and weekends with 3-4 hours per shift and a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Environmental Conditions:

  • The Human Anatomy Cadaver laboratory contains formaldehyde (formalin), bleach (50/50), Auto-Suite, and other chemical or cleaning solutions typically found in the environment of an anatomy lab.
  • Open-toed shoes, exposed ankles/feet/legs, and contact lenses are forbidden.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided by OSU-OKC and must be worn, this includes: eye protection, latex or nitrile gloves, and lab coats whenever dissecting.
  • Additional personal protective equipment (OPPE) may be worn:  formaldehyde respirators face masks, and face-shields.
  • Lab techs must be able to use sharp scalpels, dissection instruments, and operate hand/electric saws.

 Physical Demands:

  • Manual dexterity with dissection instruments and power tools.
  • Individually able to left 50 pounds and team-lift bodies weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for up to 4 hours per shift
  • Ability to perform acute repetitive motions during shift.
