Job Function:

The Grant Assistant will assist in coordinating and carrying out the grant initiatives within the Department of Education Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant. This includes maintaining spending records and grant documents, tracking grant initiatives, and other grant related duties. This position will also assist the Director of Student Engagement in meeting student needs.

 Pay Rate: $11.38

 Essential Job Functions:  

  1. Assist in coordinating and carrying out grant initiatives.
  2. Maintain spending records and grant documents.
  3. Track grant initiatives and related data.
  4. Assist in the coordination and advisement of student organizations such as the Single Parent Association and the Student Parent Support Program.
  5. Assist in the coordination of events such as monthly workshops.
  6. Assemble and distribute campus and community resource information to participants.
  7. Monitor participant attendance and retention.
  8. Completed all mandatory training as required plus two professional development per year.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED 


Work Experience:

  • Delated work experience and a strong interest in providing high quality administrative support to a professional team
  • Experienced and comfortable working with numbers
  • Experience with document management 


Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Previous grant or budgetary management experience.
  • Experience with general office operations, office management, or academic support.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people, which will include the public, faculty, staff, community partners, and students
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact.
  • Skilled in data recording/record keeping operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to: office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently with success in organizational and time management.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently; self motivated.
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to exchange information, give/receive instructions and respond to inquiries appropriately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a multicultural environment in an effort to work and communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff and community partners.
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism
  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior


 Working Conditions: 

  • Working hours are typically during the weekday daytime hours, could occasionally include some evenings and weekends.
  • Extensive computer use required.
  • Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking, and listening and computer usage.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
